The spinel LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 is largely studied as a positive electrode material for lithium-ion batteries, but further optimization of its properties required to enable commercialization. superior electrochemical performance the disordered polymorph limited by traditional method synthesis. This solid-state route generates impurities that reduce specific capacity and results in formation octahedral particles with exposed {111} facets, thus limiting exploration effects surface orientation. In this work, we report first time preparation impurity-free platelet-like morphology via molten salt We discovered these platelets exhibit multiple orientations, including {111}, {112}, six other high-indexed deliver energy storage equivalent their counterpart. Such an ability tune primary particle orientation will open gate investigate mechanisms at individual level using spectroscopy microscopy techniques.
